A note from me:
There is no need for babies to 'behave' in my classes - crying, wriggling, feeding, changing, squealing, chatting - it’s all welcomed and expected. They are babies! This class is to help calm you - I am highly experienced at running these classes with babies doing all of the above. Please don’t let your baby’s crying put you off coming, if you know you need this class.

when a baby is born, so is a mother.

i’m here to help you heal physically, emotionally & spiritually.

This postnatal Yoga class is about healing the mother, physically, emotionally and spiritually. The passage into motherhood is profound and one that alters your life forever. Whether it be your fist baby or you are further along your motherhood journey, this is a time in your life when you are likely the most depleted, tired and detached from yourself than you have ever been. However most of the focus in your life right now, is on your baby. But your baby needs you to be at your fullest, most-energised and engaged self. So this class is about YOU. Babies are of course invited to attend and are integrated into the class but unlike a Mother and Baby Yoga class, the focus in Postnatal Yoga is on you sweet Mama. This is your time. After all, Happy Mama, Happy Baby

upcoming TERM DATES:

current TERM DATES:

*Please note the first class of this term will be on a Wednesday at 11.15am, all other classes will be at the regular time of Thursdays at 11am.

This course will focus on:

  • Releasing tension, stiffness and pain from your neck, shoulders, lower back and pelvis.

  • Gently and safely re-toning your pelvic floor.

  • Closing and rebuilding your abdominal muscles.

  • Building strength and stamina throughout your whole body.

  • Restoring hormonal and emotional balance and creating a sense of calm.

  • Quietening your mind and alleviating feelings of anxiety, doubt, fear, guilt and overwhelm.

  • Experiencing vital, deep-rest and relaxation.

  • Connection and bonding with your baby in a gentle, calm and supportive environment.

  • Coming home to yourself.

Practising with and getting to know other new mothers is also a great way of feeling part of a community and the much needed motherhood village, helping to alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation.

I offer this course in 6 week terms. In order to create a solid foundation for long term health it is recommended to give yourself at least 9 months of this type of healing Yoga. You are welcome to join for as many terms as you like.

The aim of this course is to safely and gently rebuild your postnatal body and support your hormones, emotions and nervous system with a view to transitioning into general Yoga classes again should you wish to. No prior Yoga experience is required. There is no rush, your healing takes time, but by taking it slow and working with the breathing and micro-movements to start with, you can avoid long term problems such as joint instability and hyper-mobility.

These therapeutic classes can also help with other common postnatal ailments such as:

  • Pelvic Pain

  • SPD (Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction)

  • Lumbar Pain

  • Collapsed Arches

  • Weak Pelvic Floor

  • Uterine Prolapse

  • Haemorrhoids

  • Varicose Veins

  • Feeding Discomfort

  • Split Abdominals (Diastasis Recti)

  • Mastitis

  • Healing Abdominal-Birth Scars

  • Fatigue, Anxiety, Depression

I love these classes. A much needed moment of calm and space in the week. Some genuine ‘me time’. Gently guided by Emma who helps you understand your ‘new’ body and guides the practice according to what you feel you most need. I feel more grounded and in tune with my body and mind by the end of the class.

Single class rate is £15.

What if the class needs to be cancelled due to COVID-19?

If the government declares public classes are prohibited or we return to another lockdown, I will either continue to offer my classes online via Zoom or cancel the classes. ABOUT ME. . .

emma deery and baby

I had my first baby in 2017, age 38.

Having already been a Yoga teacher, I had expected my physical body to be equip for postnatal healing. But it wasn’t. I hadn’t trained in postnatal Yoga at that point and I went too far too soon. My emotional wellbeing also took a fall as I suffered with PTSD and Postnatal Anxiety.

Yoga helped me heal from this and once I trained in Postnatal Yoga and learnt the benefits of slow, gentle re-toning and realigning of my body, 3 years later I got my strength back and now enjoy my regular Yoga practice. I wish I had taken these classes in the early months, but now I know - I can teach you how to heal safely and for the long-haul. I got you Mama x

Emma has ensured that I didn’t take things too quickly back into my yoga journey and has helped me to understand how to heal my whole body during my post-natal recovery. She has helped me to target specific areas, such as my pelvis and shoulders, and find ways of building movement back into day to day life. It is a chance to put myself first each week, but the bonus is that my little boy loves joining the class just as much as I do! If you are looking to add some calm and strength into your new world as a Mummy this is the class for you!
